Repair Process
The Bell Curve of our repair cost (DEP, Parts & Labor) varies from $65.00 to $145.00 but in order for us to give an intelligent and sensible estimate for your unit’s restoration, your Sony unit needs to go thru our Diagnostic Examination Procedure (DEP) to assess complications and gather much deeper technical data. Symptoms described by users like yourself are helpful leads to facilitate troubleshooting but not enough to draw a good reliable conclusion to the real root of the problem – therefore
NO ESTIMATE OR BALL PARK FIGURE CAN BE MADE AVAILABLE UNTIL THIS PROCEDURE (…SO PLEASE DON’T ASK HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST BECAUSE THE ANSWER IS CIRCUITOUS – IT WILL ONLY BRING YOU BACK HERE.)
Our pragmatic approach to repair process gives us the ability to provide you with a very accurate, precise estimate if not exact supported by facts (no BS) and not assumptions. Someone who claims otherwise pose no credibility because they are based on erroneous assumptions (You will only get disappointed if you try them). We are highly competent & experienced professionals who follow a methodical and logical established procedures backed with enumerable successes.
Our Turn-Around-Time (TAT) is 5 business days as condition permits
. This procedure normally cost a small fee of $20.00 being offered here now for the low starting bid but specific only to the Model Listed (Offer will not apply to any other Models. PLEASE DO NOT CIRCUMVENT). Shipping cost applies to units return to you (origin) after the service completion within the Continental 48 US States only.
To illustrate further – Itemized Repair Estimate goes like these:
DEP: $15.00 (Pre-Paid normally $20.00 outside of eBay)
Parts: ??? (to be identified after DEP)
Labor: ??? (to be identified after DEP)
————————————
Sub-Total: $65 – $145 (Bell Curve – most repairs’ sub-total)

Why 8mm Format?
For 30 Years since its introduction in 1984 by Eastman Kodak, 8mm has been a very compact, secure and reliable format compared to DVD. DVD is frail, crack and can be damaged easily even with time (reflective surface deter 30 yrs or less compare to magnetic particles which has 300 years at least). Any minor damage on its surface can render the media unplayable nor data unretrievable. 8mm format is more reliable, efficient, longlasting (it will outlive many generations of our life cycles) in archiving people precious memories. Contrary to others opinion 8mm does not deteriorate with use provided kept properly and with care (It’s the playback devices that deter and wear out). Why manufacturers dont make them anymore? Because they are more difficult and expensive to make. Its much easier for them to make & profit from DVD.
8mm tape formats long useful existence proves that it is a practical format to keep alive. For this reason – we are in business to help continue supporting, restoring and reselling all Hi8/8mm format Sony tape equipment.
